A Partnership Built on Purpose: Celebrating More Than Five Years of Support from Masco Corporation

At Living & Learning Enrichment Center, we are fortunate to work alongside partners who do far more than write nonprofit organizations like ours a single check. Some partners show up year after year, deepen their investment over time, and make clear through their actions that they believe in this work and in the people it serves. Masco Corporation is one of those partners.

This year, we are proud to announce that Masco Corporation has again invested in our mission in two significant ways: a $25,000 sponsorship of our Annual Hopes & Dreams Gala and a $5,000 General Operating Support grant. These two gifts alone represent a powerful statement about what kind of community partner Masco is. Over the last five years, Masco has contributed more than $220,500 to Living & Learning, a record that speaks for itself.

Sue Sabo, Masco’s Director of Communications & Corporate Giving, shared, “Masco is honored to be a partner of the Living & Learning Enrichment Center. From their efforts to make workplaces accessible and inclusive for those with disabilities to social opportunities for their members and families to build support networks, Living & Learning Enrichment Center’s work is essential to creating a community where everyone can thrive.”

The Hopes & Dreams Gala is our largest annual fundraiser, drawing more than 600 guests each year, including families, corporate partners, community leaders, and supporters who come together to celebrate the achievements of individuals with disabilities and invest in their futures. Masco’s sponsorship of this event helps make it possible, not only as a fundraiser but as a gathering that affirms the value and dignity of every person in our community.

This General Operating Support grant goes even further, giving us organizational flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most. That might mean expanding our employment services, deepening clinical supports, or ensuring that a family on a waitlist gets connected to programming sooner. Unrestricted operating support is among the most meaningful gifts a nonprofit can receive, and Masco’s willingness to invest in Living & Learning in this way reflects a deep trust in our work and our team.

Our organization serves individuals with disabilities across Southeast Michigan through a comprehensive continuum of services that includes vocational training and employment placement, social skill-building programs, summer camp, clinical intervention services, parent/caregiver support, benefits navigation assistance, and arts programming. Since our Employment Services and Job Development program launched, we have placed more than 250 individuals in meaningful jobs.

None of this happens without community investment. None of it happens without partners like Masco, who see disability inclusion as meaningful community-building, and who understand that when individuals with disabilities have access to employment, connection, and support, the entire region is stronger for it.

We are grateful for this partnership.

We are proud of what we have built together, and we ook forward to what comes next.
