Job Coach- Immediate ($15-$18 per hour)

Job Description:
Job coaches will work directly with Living and Learning members in the local community to develop job skills, promote problem-solving, self-advocacy, and independence, as well as foster a supportive and nurturing environment. This involves supporting our members in learning to complete job tasks, providing emotional and behavioral support, and monitoring and evaluating the progress of members with the goal of transitioning them into long-term employment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Execute job coaching plans made specific to each member.
  • Promote independence and efficiency while also ensuring the wellbeing of members.
  • Help in the development of motivation and skills.
  • Formally document member information and progress notes.

Qualifications:
Minimum Experience

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Experience

  • 1+ years experience in similar field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in comparable studies.

License/Certification:

  • Driver’s License

Summer Camp Counselor - Seasonal ($16-$17 per hour)

Join the Living and Learning Enrichment Center as a Summer Camp Counselor! We are seeking individuals dedicated to positively impacting the lives of teens and adults with autism and developmental disabilities. In this fulfilling role, you will play a crucial part in creating a supportive and inclusive environment, fostering personal growth, and ensuring a memorable summer camp experience. This is a seasonal position during the summer camp period, with additional opportunities within the organization throughout the year. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and implement engaging and inclusive activities for teens and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Foster a positive and supportive camp environment, ensuring the wellbeing of all campers and other staff.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to campers during all activities and outings.
  • Collaborate with and maintain open and effective communication with fellow counselors and other staff to ensure a cohesive summer camp experience.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with individuals with autism.
  • Uphold the values and mission of the Living and Learning Enrichment Center in all interactions and activities.
  • Commitment to respecting camper dignity and autonomy with emphasis on promoting independence and self-expression.

 Qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Previous experience in a camp setting, special education, or related field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a team player, with a keen attention to communication.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to various needs.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background checks and adhere to ethical standards.

 

Writer's Club Facilitator (Starts at $15.25 per hour)

Program: Writer’s Club
Days: Mondays
Time: 4:30 pm-5:30pm

The Living and Learning Enrichment Center is seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our team as a Program Facilitator for our Writer’s Club. The Writer’s Club is designed to empower individuals on the autism spectrum through the exploration of written expression, fostering a sense of community and self-discovery.

Requirements:

  • Passion for writing and creating inclusive and engaging experiences for individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Develop and implement engaging and inclusive writing activities for the Writer’s Club members.
  • Promote a sense of community within the Writer’s Club by facilitating and encouraging social interactions among members.
  • Encourage creative expression and maintain a safe environment where members feel comfortable developing and sharing their written works.

 

Music Appreciation Facilitator (Starts at $15.25 per hour)

Program: Music Appreciation
Days: Mondays
Time: 6:00 pm-7:00 pm

The Living and Learning Enrichment Center is seeking an enthusiastic and music-loving individual to join our team as a Program Facilitator for our Music Appreciation Club. The Music Appreciation Club is structured to encourage self-expression through various modes of musical exploration, foster friendships, and cultivate a deeper appreciation of the world of music.

Requirements:

  • A passion for music and creating inclusive and engaging experiences for individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Develop and implement engaging and inclusive music-related activities for the Music Appreciation Club members.
  • Promote a sense of community within the Music Appreciation Club by facilitating and encouraging social interactions among members.
  • Encourage self-expression and maintain a safe environment where members feel comfortable sharing their musical preferences.

 

Maintenance/Groundskeeping

The Living and Learning Enrichment Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Northville, Michigan. We are an organization focused on helping people with autism and developmental disabilities gain social and work skills. This job is focused on maintaining our estate, tending to our crops, taking care of our animals, and overall cleanliness and safety of our campus. Backgrounds in these fields are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities Include:
• Lawn/estate maintenance
• Mowing, weeding, trimming hedges, etc
• Painting, light repairs,
• Garden tending
• Planting, watering, weeding, harvesting crops
• General maintenance of tools and equipment used
• General knowledge of basic equipment. (Tractor, mowers, lawn equipment, Hand tools)
• Animal care (Feeding, watering, maintaining cleanliness of animal enclosures)
• Working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities
• Supervision of simple tasks.

Requirements
• Background check
• Lift 50lbs
• Must be able to work well as a team and independently
• Good communication skills
• Self-starter with ability to problem solve on the spot.
Typical work hours 9 am to 5 pm, M-F. Some evenings/weekends/holidays may be required for events and other operational needs and flexibility is a plus.

Social Skills Program Facilitators (starting at $15.25 per hour)

We are looking for kind-hearted, fun loving, energetic, patient, and compassionate individuals to join our Social Program Facilitator Team to help provide a fun and safe experience for our members. Our enriching programs focus on social, life, and job skills while making friends and having fun!
 
Requirements:
– Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check
– Responsible for supervision of members
– Experience working with children or teen
– Experience working with individuals with special needs is preferred
– Encourage and actively engage our members in activities
– Demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the needs of each member
– Ability to be flexible and work well with others
