Farmhand / Groundskeeping

Job Description:

The Living and Learning Enrichment Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Northville, Michigan. We are an organization focused on helping people with autism and developmental disabilities gain social and work skills. This job is focused on maintaining our estate, tending to our crops, and taking care of our animals. Backgrounds in these fields are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lawn/estate maintenance
  • Mowing, weeding, trimming hedges, etc
  • Painting, light repairs
  • Garden tending
  • Planting, watering, weeding, harvesting crops
  • General maintenance of tools and equipment used
  • Tractor, mowers, lawn equipment, Hand tools
  • Animal care
  • Feeding, watering, maintaining cleanliness of animal enclosures

Requirements:

  • Background check
  • Lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to work well as a team and independently
  • Good communication skills

Typical work hours will be 16-24 hours per week. Flexible schedule to be determined.

Job Description:

Job coaches will work directly with Living and Learning members in the local community to develop job skills, promote problem-solving, self-advocacy, and independence, as well as foster a supportive and nurturing environment. This involves supporting our members in learning to complete job tasks, providing emotional and behavioral support, and monitoring and evaluating the progress of members with the goal of transitioning them into long-term employment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Execute job coaching plans made specific to each member.
  • Promote independence and efficiency while ensuring the wellbeing of members.
  • Help in the development of motivation and skills.
  • Formally document member information and progress notes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period.
  • May be required to climb stairs, walk, run, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20lbs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license – (required)- Will be driving members to local job sites.

Preferred Experience

  • 1+ years’ experience in similar field.

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:00pm

Job Title:           Employment Service Coach

Department:    Vocational (VOC)

Type:                   Part-time

Job Summary:

Job coaches will work 1-on-1 with LLEC members in the local community to develop the skills required to work independently at their workplace. This involves communicating with employers, conducting plans of service to transition our members into working independently, and providing emotional and behavioral support for our members throughout their job development process. Once an individual establishes an ideal production rate, they will transition to working independently. The employment service coach will continue to communicate with the members and the employer to ensure goals and feedback are effectively managed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Execute employment service coaching plans made specific to each member.
Promote independence and efficiency while ensuring the well-being of members.
Directly communicate with business managers on member progress, goals, and feedback.
Formally document member information and progress notes.
Complete OCHN (Oakland County) and DWIHN (Wayne County) trainings within 30 days of employment. (Time will be allotted for trainings).

Physical Requirements:

May be required to climb stairs, walk, run, stoop, kneel, and crouch for an extended period.
Must be able to lift at least 20lbs.
