Intro to Pottery

Date and Time: Wednesday, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

Who: Individuals 13+ who are more independent

What: This class will introduce students to clay, covering basic hand building techniques, stages of clay and the glazing process. Students can expect to complete 2-3 projects in across a 4 week plan. This class is best suited for members who require limited support.

Draw and Sketch

Day and Time: Fridays, 5:00 pm-6:00pm

Who: Individuals 13+ who are more independent

What: Grab your #2 pencils and white drawing paper! Each week, students will learn basic cartooning and drawing skills as a new idea is introduced. The instructor will guide the class by drawing along with them, while students are encouraged to add their own creative touches.

Who: Individuals 21+ who demonstrate consistent independence in the community and daily living skills.

What: This is for adults 21+ with strong independence in community and daily living skills.A unique art club blending art, culture, and cuisine! Members enjoy community-based learning, including hands-on art activities and dining experiences. Recent outings included an art exhibit at UofM and exploring Downtown Detroit for Noel Nights. Transportation is provided by Living and Learning Enrichment Center staff.

Sensory Art

Date and Time: Saturdays, 1:00 pm-2:00 pm

Who: Individuals 13+ who need more support

What: n this course, students will explore art through their senses. The focus is on process and discovery as members engage with sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. This class is best suited for members who require more support.

Intro to Painting

Day and Time: Saturdays, 3:00 pm-4:30 pm

Who: Individuals 20+ who are more independent

What: The vibrant world of painting awaits in Intro to Painting! Artists will be taken on a journey through the fundamentals of painting, exploring the concepts of color, form, and space, learning how to bring their visions to life. Individuals will have the chance to experiment with a wide range of traditional brushes, paints, and adaptive tools, allowing enhanced accessibility and creative expression. Whether you’re a novice artist or a seasoned painter, this class offers something for everyone!

Members Only Independent Study

Date and Time: Fridays, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm

Who: Individuals 16+ who are more independent

What: Step into the studio and make it your own! This ceramics program is designed for the self-led artist, with access to

tools and techniques from hand-building to wheel-

throwing. Artists interested in using the wheels will need to show proficiency before independent use, while supportive staff are available to guide as needed. Pieces you create

have the opportunity to be showcased in community exhibitions and offered for sale, making this a rewarding artistic journey.
