Job Description:

Summer Camp Counselor is a seasonal position operating between June to August each year. The counselor will help create a supportive and inclusive environment, foster personal growth, and contribute to an unforgettable camp experience for the Living and Learning members.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leads engaging, inclusive activities for teens and adults with autism and other disabilities.
  • Apply principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to support positive social interactions and address behaviors, while ensuring interventions are culturally sensitive and trauma-informed.
  • Foster a positive and supportive camp environment, promoting the well-being and enjoyment of all campers and staff.
  • Provide individualized and group support to campers during activities and outings.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with fellow counselors and staff to create a seamless and cohesive camp experience.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge for supporting individuals with autism.
  • Uphold the values and mission of the Living and Learning Enrichment Center in all interactions and activities.
  • Respect camper dignity and autonomy, promoting independence and self-expression at every opportunity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period
  • May be required to climb stairs, walk, run, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Must be able to lift at least 20lbs
  • Tolerance for outdoor environments, including exposure to heat and varying weather conditions

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CPR and First Aid training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Passing of a background check

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, recreation, social work, or similar field
  • Knowledge and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • 1+ years’ experience working with teens and adults with disabilities
  • Current or previously held experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Schedule:

  • Mandatory staff training week: June 15, 2026 – June 19, 2026, time TBD
  • Camp weeks: June 22, 2026 – August 13, 2026, Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm

Job Type: Seasonal

  • $17.50 per hour
  • Expected hours: 32-34 hours

License/Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Current or previous RBT certification

Job Description:

Job coaches will work directly with Living and Learning members in the local community to develop job skills, promote problem-solving, self-advocacy, and independence, as well as foster a supportive and nurturing environment. This involves supporting our members in learning to complete job tasks, providing emotional and behavioral support, and monitoring and evaluating the progress of members with the goal of transitioning them into long-term employment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Execute job coaching plans made specific to each member.
  • Promote independence and efficiency while ensuring the wellbeing of members.
  • Help in the development of motivation and skills.
  • Formally document member information and progress notes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period.
  • May be required to climb stairs, walk, run, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20lbs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license – (required)- Will be driving members to local job sites.

Preferred Experience

  • 1+ years’ experience in similar field.
