What an extraordinary day of hockey, community, and giving! The 2024 Hockey Hearts & Heroes event at USA Hockey Arena brought together the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association with our incredible Veterans, Frontline Workers, and First Responders for an unforgettable afternoon of hockey that raised an amazing $40,000 for the Living and Learning Enrichment Center.
The excitement was palpable as fans filled the arena, beginning with a special performance of the National Anthem by Detroit’s own Karen Newman. The match showcased not just hockey talent, but the remarkable spirit of giving that defines our community.
The $40,000 raised at Hockey Hearts & Heroes will directly support the Living and Learning Enrichment Center’s mission of enhancing lives through transformative programs and experiences. Every day, we witness the power of therapeutic support, social connections, workplace opportunities, and community engagement in helping our participants thrive.
We believe in creating pathways to independence and achievement. When our participants step through our doors, they enter a space where their unique abilities are celebrated and their goals become possibilities. Through personalized support and guidance, we work alongside our participants and their families to build confidence, develop skills, and create meaningful connections.
The generosity shown at Hockey Hearts & Heroes means we can continue expanding these life-changing opportunities. It means more workplace training programs, more social engagement activities, and more therapeutic support for individuals and families who are reaching for their dreams.
To everyone who attended, to our generous sponsors, to the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, and to all our Veterans, Frontline Workers, and First Responders who participated – thank you. Your support transforms lives and strengthens our community.
We’re especially grateful to those who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible, including Jim Harb and our dedicated team of volunteers and staff members.
The success of Hockey Hearts & Heroes 2024 reminds us that when we come together as a community, we can create meaningful change. The funds raised will help us continue our work of building inclusive opportunities and supporting individuals on their journey to independence.
