Intro to Pottery

Who: Individuals 13+ who are more independent
What: Embark on a creative journey with our Intro to Pottery Class, a welcoming space designed for those who thrive on clear demonstrations and hands-on exploration. Some topics in this class include basic hand-building techniques, stages of clay, and the glazing process. Each pottery technique is demonstrated step-by-step, ensuring that everyone can easily follow along. Independence is key in Intro to Pottery – hand-over-hand guidance is minimal but adaptive tools and techniques are available to best support the artist. In Intro to Pottery, every artist will confidently mold their creativity into beautiful works of art! Members can expect to complete 2-3 projects in a 4-week session.
Sensory Art and Music
Date and Time: Thursdays, 5:00 pm- 7:00pm
Who: Individuals 18+ who need more support
What: Dive into Sensory Art and Music, a fusion of art and music that enhances self-expression through immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Members will participate in interactive musical activities while crafting hands-on art pieces, blending creativity with rhythm. Sensory Art and Music is where imagination flourishes and creativity knows no limits! Pizza is provided at Sensory Art and Music and dietary accommodations (I.e., gluten-free, dairy free, nut-free) can be made, upon request.
Draw and Sketch
Day and Time: Fridays, 5:00 pm-6:00pm
Who: Individuals 13+ who are more independent
What: Grab your #2 pencils and drawing paper as we dive into the world of basic cartooning and drawing skills. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this class is designed for all abilities. Each week, we’ll introduce a new drawing idea to spark your creativity. Artists will be guided through the process and given step-by-step instructions along the way. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of room for your own ideas and personal touches! Whether you’re looking to refine your skills or simply enjoy drawing amongst friends, this class is sure to ignite your passion for sketching!
Beyond the Baseline

Who: Individuals 21+ who demonstrate consistent independence in the community and daily living skills.
What: Beyond the Baseline is a travel-based art club for adults aged 21 and up, offering enriching experiences that blend art, culture, and cuisine. Each outing provides members with unique, community-based learning opportunities, including hands-on art activities and culinary experiences at local restaurants. This program is ideal for members who consistently demonstrate independence in community settings and proficiency with daily living skills. Transportation is provided by the Living and Learning Enrichment Center staff. Recent outings have included an art exhibit at the University of Michigan and strolling Downtown Detroit for Noel Nights!
Sensory Art

Who: Individuals 13+ who need more support
What: Ignite your senses in Sensory Art! Perfect for artists seeking multi-sensory experiences through various art techniques and modalities, this class will enhance your creativity and lead you into a journey of self-expression. Through hands-on projects, members will create unique works of art that captivate the senses and reflect their individuality. Join us and start your masterpiece today!
Intro to Painting
Day and Time: Saturdays, 3:00 pm-4:30 pm
Who: Individuals 20+ who are more independent
What: The vibrant world of painting awaits in Intro to Painting! Artists will be taken on a journey through the fundamentals of painting, exploring the concepts of color, form, and space, learning how to bring their visions to life. Individuals will have the chance to experiment with a wide range of traditional brushes, paints, and adaptive tools, allowing enhanced accessibility and creative expression. Whether you’re a novice artist or a seasoned painter, this class offers something for everyone!
Members Only Independent Study
Date and Time: Tuesdays, 3:00 pm-6:00 pm, Wednesdays, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm, Fridays, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm
Who: Individuals 16+ who are more independent
What: Step into our open studio, a space specially crafted for seasoned artists to explore their creativity freely. Designed for individuals who crave independence in their artistic journey, Members Only Independent Study is best suited for individuals who have a deep understanding of art materials, a distinct personal style, and require minimal guidance. Whether you arrive with a clear vision or simply a spark of inspiration, our well-equipped space provides all the necessary supplies at your fingertips to nurture your creativity.
